Jez Shirt

All our shirts are hand-made by skilled artisans at every stage of the process, from the grower to the wearer.

• This shirt was made using organic cotton grown at Kracadawna Organic Farm by Juli and Vivek Cariappa and their family.
• The cotton is grown on the farm from Kracadawna’s own organic seed and is hand-picked. Sowing usually takes place in April or May and the cotton is harvested in October or November.
• It is woven into fabric on handlooms by traditional master weavers in Theni district in Tamil Nadu and in Kannur district in Kerala.
• Organic vegetable dyes are produced from plants such as indigo, manjistha, pomegranate and turmeric, also grown at Kracadawna.
• Traditional mordant techniques fix the colours with home-grown herbal ingredients that impart healing properties to the finished garment.
• Buttons are hand-crafted from coconut shells by skilled artisans in Kerala.
